The research study focused on workers’ settlement belonging to Yunus Cement Factory, one of the earliest industrial ventures of the Republican period. The workers settlement was listed as a heritage site in 2005, owing to the buildings’ architectural features from the period, after their fall into disuse following the closing of the factory that remained operative until the 1990s. The listed lodgings were demolished in the following years contrary to the order for preservation. The foundation traces of the buildings were uncovered through land surface analysis as part of the research study and the lodgings were documented based on site studies, analysis results and photographs from previous periods.
